As a survey research company we know the value of data, so we take care to keep up with the most advanced Internet Security technologies to keep you and your survey participants protected.
In July of 2018, Google started marking unencrypted websites as “not secure.” Although other internet providers have not yet made this change, the trend of this is once one provider changes their protocols the others tend to follow suit.
This means that all websites marked as HTTP instead of HTTPS will have an extra notification in their address bar to serve as a warning for viewers. The extra notification means that the website is not capable of protecting data and could potentially infect a viewer’s system with malware, as opposed to HTTPS-encrypted sites which have a lock icon.
All of Readex Research’s websites are marked HTTPS.
• SSL/TLS – All of our surveys use Transport Layer Security (TLS) technology, the successor to the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) standard. SSL and TLS encryption provide increased security when transferring data over the Internet between a server and the client. These cryptographic protocols make sure that no one can intercept the information you send, while also preventing malware from being injected into our website. This protocol consists of two layers, the TLS Record Protocol (provides connection security) and the TLS Handshake Protocol (provides authentication between the client and the server, to negotiate algorithms and cryptographic keys for encryption before exchanging data). Without this protocol, any sensitive information that you fill out over the Internet could potentially be viewed as plain text and stolen.
• 128-bit encryption – This means that every time that there is a connection with our server it is encrypted using a secret code made up of 2128 possible combinations, making it extremely unlikely that a third-party could computationally come up with the key and use it to decipher an encrypted message.
In addition, we also have an Extended Validation Certificate. The EV certificate proves that our website is controlled by a legally established business with a verifiable identity. It also shows that our website has been vetted by a certificate authority. To receive an EV Certificate, a company must undergo an independent audit and meet certain criteria.
